perfect christmas gift for this baby, if anyone is wondering
There’ve been no mistakes in what I’ve said according to the line of thinking I, and many others, have adapted. I personally believe that bisexuality is an outdated term that excludes non-binary genders and because gender in practice and in expression is a result of and/or a response to social conditioning I don’t see the validity of separating pansexuality and omnisexuality over who sees gender identification more or less.
I understand that my stance is problematic to many and given the popularity position of my blog I need to set an example so this is what I’m saying to not only you, but all of my followers:
The labels and identifiers I use are ones that I choose carefully and are not intended to erase or offend anyone, simply to better convey the context and intention of what I’m speaking on.
Gender and sexuality are very important, complicated issues and deserve more attention than what a politically correct word battle could give them. I’ve contextualize my vernacular, and I will accept yours as being your own; neither of us is on the winning side as long as this linguistic battle rages on so I really feel no need to defend myself. If, in a few years, our community has decided on a standard set of labels that we can all agree to then we can reassess our terminology.
Promoting the myth that bisexuality as a term “excludes non-binary genders” is biphobic. In this case, your intent is moot. You are erasing trans* and non-binary bisexual people, and offending bisexual people by not respecting our community definitions. This isn’t a matter of personal word choice. What you are doing is hurtful and biphobic right now. Period. I asked you in the previous ask to do some reading about the difference between bisexual and pansexual and you said “No one of us gets the final say on what they mean and how they are used”. That is, I believe, total bullshit. Bisexual people get to define what bisexuality is. No one else has that right. You do not have the right to redefine our words, erase our history, and form it to suit your own needs.
You can dress it up in whatever reasoning you need to sleep at night, but what you are doing is incredibly disrespectful to bisexual people. You are promoting harmful stereotypes that are used to marginalize, erase, and demean bisexual people. You’re also not doing pansexuals any favors by providing another case of bad biphobic definitions.
Which is really unfortunate because you’ve done good work in pushing the writer on Deadpool to answer longstanding questions about a character that is beloved by a lot of monosexual and non-monosexual people alike. It’s just sad to see you sully that work by perpetuating the same biphobia that often keeps non-monosexual people ( just like characters) in the closet.
"when i was growing up people didn’t do that!"
Today, I as I walked into the grocery store, some solicitor was outside trying to get signatures or money. I don’t even know what his cause was, because the first thing he said to me as I got closer was, “You dropped your smile.”
There are very few things in the world that make my blood boil like being told by a strange man to smile. But I was very restrained and ignored him. I went about buying my groceries and forgot about it. Then, as I was leaving the store, he saw me and said, “You going to talk to me this time?”
I stopped. I turned. I said this, with a smile:
"I’m going to give you a tip. All women, everywhere, all of them, hate being told to smile. It implies that we owe you something, or it’s our job to be pleasant or ornamental. We don’t owe you anything, and it’s not our f*cking job to be pleasant or ornamental. If you want to help your cause, stop telling women to smile, because it makes them want to punch you in the face. Which I won’t do."
And then I walked away.
Role model right here.
Proposal to abolish bisexual as a label and instead use pansexual
proposal to not to demean anyone’s sexuality considering it’s none of your business!
yeah wth petition for op to stop being such a bi-erasing dick ass
Petition for everyone to stop denying biphobia exists in the pan community
Everyone is talking about how Gal Gadot doesn’t have a “good enough body” to play Wonder Woman, but no one is talking about how Zack Snyder doesn’t have good enough directing skills to make this film.
the hunger games aren’t amazingly unique or flawless or anything but I think katniss as a character is very important and i think the media misunderstands
we aren’t in it for the cute boys. we’re in it for katniss. thousands of young girls were introduced to an introverted, angry girl born into poverty and watched her become the savior of the world and the media doesn’t seem to understand that she, as a character, is important to girls. not who she dates, but her
my mom has been a cop for over 20 years and she is the one who constantly warns me about police aggression and young male cops and told me that if you’re ever alone on a rural road and a cop throws their lights on to put on your four ways and drive to the next gas station before stopping because so many cops are scum and it’s not worth the chance of getting hurt. the fact that SHE feels the need to tell me this shit scares me to death
do you ever see a picture of your internet friend for the first time and you just kinda think
it appears i have accidentally befriended a beauty goddess.
Fast food workers “occupying” Wall Street. #imlovinit
If you can’t fucking survive on fucking $7.25 go to fucking school and get another fucking job. Those people who run the fucking restaurants and shops who fucking give out minimum fucking wage need to make a fucking profit too. Get off your lazy fucking ass and make way for the fucking high school students and college students who fucking need that job that pays $7.25.
Funny thing: the workers who are stuck in minimum wage jobs (many of whom have degrees… and huge amounts of debt racked up getting them, because of the myth that going to school is THE path to a high-paying job) are also the biggest single customer base for these sorts of corporations, and most other ones.
You know the thing that’s really going to imperil corporate profits?
The way they pay their workers.
The news keeps saying things about “consumer confidence” being low. Supposedly, it’s low “confidence” that is depressing sales of big ticket items like homes and cars, and if the current trends continue, it’s taking bites out of things like… eating out. Going to the movies. And other things that drive the minimum wage sectors of the economy.
Funny thing: people have to have money to spend money. Right now, most revenue goes straight into the accounts of the major stakeholders in the company. What does it there? It… accrues. It… adds up. What doesn’t it do? It doesn’t circulate. It doesn’t get spent. It doesn’t do anyone any good.
If you gave everyone working at McDonald’s another dollar an hour out of the profits that are currently just being pocketed, those dollars… well, they’d be spent. Almost immediately. And in the end, they’d probably end up being stuck in some millionaire’s low risk, steady return, not-at-all entrepreneurial portfolio, which is where most money ends up.
But just by the magic passing through more hands before it comes to rest, those same dollars would each be spent several more times. MAGIC, right? Same dollar, getting spent again and again and again. And every time, someone benefits. In effect, every time, everyone benefits.
When money goes to the top, it stops moving. Money that isn’t moving isn’t really money any more. It’s as useless as the high score of a video game.
This is why the places in the world—even just in this country—with the best minimum wage and the best social safety nets also have the lowest unemployment, and why unemployment grows or stays stable the more we “tighten belts”. This is just how the world works. This is how the world has always worked. If conservatives would give up their fairy tale fantasyland logic and join the rest of us in the real world, we could have the economy on its feet in no time.
And you are living in a fantasy land. You are. What jobs? What jobs are these people supposed to get? If they had no job, you would tell them “McDonald’s is always hiring.” and act like that’s an answer. Well, they’re working at McDonald’s. And they had to beat ten applicants to get those jobs, because only in your magical fantasy land does “always hiring” mean “has enough job openings to magically accommodate everybody who applies”. Your logic literally requires magic to work.
What are you doing with your life? What are you doing that is so noble and great an endeavor that you can tell people who bust their backs to do a job you probably couldn’t do and definitely wouldn’t want to that they’re lazy for working for $7.25. Would you take $7.25 an hour to do what they do? No? Then they’re being underpaid. The invisible hand of the free market is apparently taking a vacation.
Let me tell you how things work in the real world. In the real world *everyone has to* make a living wage. Has to. If businesses aren’t paying living wages, then they should inevitably go under since no one could afford to work for them. Fortunately or unfortunately, the economy… like an ecology… is all interconnected. So instead of these businesses suffering alone for what should be a fatal decision on their part, they drag everyone else down with them in a slow death spiral that poisons the whole economy.
See, if these business owners aren’t paying their employees a living wage but they’re not going out of business, then their incompetence or greed (pick one, or both) is being subsidized by everyone else. Their incompetence or greed is being paid for by everyone who pays ABOVE a minimum wage so that their employees can afford to eat out and shop and see movies, and by everybody who pays the taxes that go to the public assistance programs that allow their employees to keep scraping by.
Of course, the employees themselves are bearing the brunt of the death spiral, because they’re trapped between an immovable object—a job that against all real-world logic expects full time employees to accept wages that won’t get them through the week—and an inexorable force—the fact that human beings have basic needs that require more money than they’re getting to meet.
Since we actually do live in the real world, it’s inevitable that a system that is unsustainable will fall apart, and this one will… it will reach a breaking point where we’ll either have to acknowledge the problem and fix it, or… well, it will just break. It would be better to fix it sooner rather than later, especially since there are actual people being literally worked to death while smug jerks like you who don’t understand how the world works and who wouldn’t be able to do what they do lecture them about how their plight is somehow their fault.
perfect commentary holy shit
Thank you for that perfect commentary! Speaking as one of those people who went down the “right” path, went through college because it is suppose to “lead to a better job” and is instead stuck in a dead-end minimum wage job, THANK YOU. No matter what degree you get, or how hard you try, there’s at least another 10 people with you applying for a new job. It makes me think of that gif that used to roll around…I’ll just go out and grab a job off a jobbie. There are no jobs to be had. So before ANYONE dare try to say “oh just get a new job” let me just educate you on something. THERE ARE NO JOBS. And to anyone who says “Oh go to college”
IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE!
First of all; college is expensive. Not everyone is able to get assistance or help. So how do you propose they pay for it? By working in a crummy minimum wage job. But then here’s the real kicker; all our lives we are led to believe one truth; go to school, go to college, get a good job. The funny thing is, it just doesn’t work out that way. Yea sure you can go to school, that doesn’t guarantee you a job. In this crappy economy employers are 10x more picky with their candidates. If you don’t have any experience, well you’re out of luck. But then how is one to get experience if no one else will hire them to give them that experience? It’s an absolute catch 22.
I was quite literally told by an employer who refused to hire me for my lack of experience in the job that with the way the economy is employers don’t want to hire unless they need to; and when they need to they are still going to be as picky as they can be. Why bother hiring someone new and waste that time training when they can just grab someone who’s got experience? Quite literally “why bother”.
And that’s the other problem with any minimum wage paying place; why bother paying their employees more? They could afford it. but why would they? They know people need a job, and that if someone is in a job that pays that low but can’t find anything else then they will stay… because something is better than nothing.
And I’m not just speaking for myself; I’m speaking for the hundreds out there suck in the same boat. Do you think we’re all happy that we spent anywhere from $25,000 and up on a college tuition to be stuck in a minimum wage job? Let me give an example, if I may, of my friend who has TWO masters degrees…and yet no one will hire her.
I really did not mean to go on for such a long rant but that early one just completely pissed me off. Like the above commenter said; who the hell are you and what makes you so damn special? That kind of self-entitled attitude is no better than the corporate bigheads running this whole debacle.
TODAY IN COMIC BOOK HISTORY: DEC. 1, 1941
The first ever super heroine, Wonder Woman, changed the comic book landscape with her debut in All-Star Comics #8. Now woman and girls had a hero that represented them on comic book pages, fighting along side Superman and Batman. Wonder Woman eventually became a feminist icon; fighting for justice, love, peace and sexual equality.
Created by psychologist William Moulton Marston, Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince is an Amazonian warrior Princess hailing from the hidden island known as Themyscira. She eventually finds her way to America and fights crime while becoming accustomed to “man’s world”.
Wonder Woman has virtually unlimited strength and speed, as well as being a master acrobat, melee fighter and strategist. Her main weapons include her unbreakable bracelets, her tiara which she can throw like a boomerang and her most recognizable weapon, her Lasso of Truth.
